RADIATION ONCOLOGY NURSE

Radiation Oncology Nurses facilitate the care of patients from the initial consult, during the treatments (symptom management) and through follow-up care. They help the doctors educate each patient and his or her family about cancer and radiation treatment. They have the art and science of caring and a commitment to their patients. They work closely with the Physician to monitor any side effects of treatment, assessments and coordinate the patient’s care among other multidisciplinary team members.  They provide resources for emotional support to patients and their families. Their nursing foundation is building bonds with patients, families and colleagues.

Caring and Mentoring are the oncology nurse’s core value, it is the past, present and future. Oncology nurses always show the power of presence, by being there for the patients.

Pam Hall is an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and continues to expand her knowledge and profession by participating in other professional groups such as ONS, ASTRO, ACS and ASCO. She has served as a State Policy Liaison for the Oncology Nursing Society for five years. She has been with the Welch Cancer Center for almost 9 years and will be continuing her education by working on her Master’s Degree. 

Her educational background includes Casper College, Nursing Program; Gillette Campus, LPN; Black Hills University; University of South Dakota School of Nursing; Sheridan College, ADN Nursing Program; University of Oklahoma; University of Wyoming Graduated with BSN – Nursing.
