The Radiation Therapy department at the Welch Cancer Center is totally CT based with a dedicated high end spiral CT Scanner.  The CT scan provides a 3-dimensional data set for tumor and critical structure localization.

With the CT Scanner, we create a “virtual” patient in the computer. The CT scanner then sends this information to the CMS XiO^® Treatment Planning Computer where the data is translated and made available for the physician to develop his treatment plan according to each individual case.                                  

The dedicated in-house scanner allows each patient to acquire their localization for their daily treatments without having to transition to another department.
