The Welch Cancer Center has two Radiation Therapists/Dosimetrists, Lynn Green and Greg Shiek. Performing their roles as Radiation Therapists, they treat each patient under the physician’s prescription and supervision. They maintain daily records and regularly check the treatment machines to make sure they are running properly. Radiation Therapists completea two to four year educational program. Performing their role as Dosimetrists, Lynn and Greg work with Dr. Stamato to develop treatment plans that can best destroy the tumor while sparing the normal tissues. They carefully check and calculate the prescribed dose for each patient and treatment plan. Certified Medical Dosimetrists complete 2 years of on-the-job-training under the supervision of a radiation physicist and pass the CMD exam. Lynn Green has been with the Welch Cancer Center since 1999. She is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the Wyoming Board of Radiologic Technologists Examiners. She received her AAS (Associate of Applied Science) degree in Radiologic Technology from Casper College and her Certificate of Radiation Therapy Technology (RTT) from University of Utah Radiation Therapy Program. Lynn is certified by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board. Greg Shiek has been with the Welch Cancer Center since 2003. He is registered and certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the Wyoming Board of Radiologic Technologists Examiners. He received his AAS degree in Radiologic Technology from Western Wyoming Community College. He is certified in CT and received his certificate of Radiation Therapy Technology (RTT) from Weber State University Radiation Therapy Program. | |||||
