BRIAN HOOGE
LINEAR ACCELERATOR TECHNICIAN
The Welch Cancer
Center is set apart by having its own Varian Certified Linear Accelerator
Technician on staff. Brian Hooge is available to provide immediate
response to analyze and assess any problems which may develop with the
Linear Accelerator. He is able to effect repairs as quickly as possible to
minimize disruption to patient treatment schedules.
The diversity of problems encountered
requires a broad knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems,
pneumatics, high voltage, and radio-frequency power circuitry and radiation
physics.
Brian also performs scheduled maintenance
to inspect, calibrate and perform preventive maintenance to ensure optimal
Linear Accelerator performance.
Brian has 4
years experience as a trained Linac technician. He received his Degree from the
DeVry Institute of Technology in Phoenix, and has successfully completed a Linac
Certification course with Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, California.
